SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail safety system, which is used to verify whether an email message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the counterfeiting of emails generated with the domain. In simple words: activating this function for a domain creates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send e-mail messages from mail boxes using the domain. As soon as this record propagates globally, it exists on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time some e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses verifies whether it comes from an accredited server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, yet when it does not come from a server part of the SPF record for the particular domain, it is rejected. Thus nobody will be able to mask an email address to make it appear as if you are distributing spam messages. This approach is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Website Hosting

When you host your domains in a shared website hosting account on our end and we manage the email addresses for them, you are able to activate SPF protection for any of them with a couple of clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is available in a separate section where you are able to see which domain names are currently secured. For the ones that are not, you will be able to enable the SPF protection solution and manage a variety of things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and to set a rule that emails can be sent only if your domains include our MX records. The aforementioned solution is the most secure one, and it can be used when we handle the emails for your domain names and you are not using a different e-mail supplier. The newly created records will be activated within one day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an email by using your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection feature is available with all of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting plans, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you can use this particular service effortlessly for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a rather intuitive interface, therefore you will not need to be proficient in the use of computers in order to protected your emails. You will only have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be certified to send emails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be active for the domain that you have selected. As an additional option, we also allow you to restrict the outgoing emails and secure your mailboxes further by allowing messages to be sent only if the domain name involved has our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be handled by us and not by some other company. In this way you will get even superior control and there won't be any chance for anyone to forge your emails for malicious purposes.
